Noosa Chocolate Factory began with a simple dream: to create extraordinary chocolate using the finest ingredients. That dream came to life in 2009 when Pam and Gordon Thomson opened a small kitchen in Noosaville, laying the foundation for what would become one of the region’s most beloved and recognisable chocolate brands.
At the heart of Noosa Chocolate Factory is a great passion for everything they do and, from the very beginning, the business was built on a desire to authentically create, high quality, local produce. Back in 2009 every batch of chocolate was hand-made with care – a tradition that continues today.
What started as a humble operation not far from where our large-scale factory now stands has grown into a thriving business with more than 65 dedicated team members and multiple retail locations across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

But the story of Noosa Chocolate Factory goes back even further – right into the family history of co-founder Gordon Thomson. Gordon’s father, Charles ‘Charlie’ Thomson, worked in chocolate factories in England before serving in World War II, where he was captured in Singapore and laboured alongside Australian soldiers on the Thai-Burma Railway. Following the end of the war Charlie made his way to Australia, where he became the factory manager at Allen’s in Melbourne. While working at Allen’s, Charlie developed many of the classic Aussie lollies we still love today.
Gordon carried forward the family’s chocolate-making legacy with quiet determination and a hands-on approach that shaped every part of the business. Known for his dedication to quality and his deep respect for traditional methods, Gordon helped transform a modest Noosaville kitchen into the thriving factory it is today. His passion for crafting beautiful, honest chocolate remains at the core of everything we do.
That generational legacy – an instinct for sweets, a respect for the process, and a commitment to delighting customers, runs through everything we do. The values and passion that were the foundations from which our success has been built remain unchanged – much in the same way that our commitment and dedication to handcrafting our chocolates has not changed.
Despite our continued growth and loyal following, we have stayed true to our origins and our focus remains firmly on doing what we do best – making unforgettable chocolate, delivered fresh with pride and genuine service.
Today, visitors to our Noosa store can watch our chocolatiers at work – melting, mixing, spreading, and wrapping every delicious piece of chocolate. It’s not just a workplace; it’s a chocolate lover’s haven, infused with the aromas of freshly brewed coffee (mixed with chocolate) and the comforting hum of creativity.
