Everything is handmade in the same factory, but rest assured every effort is made to handle all ingredients with the utmost of care.

We understand the importance of transparency when it comes to ingredients and potential allergens, especially for those with dietary restrictions. As all products are produced in our Venture Drive factory on the same equipment, we cannot guarantee there will be no cross contamination of allergens.

Listed below are our key allergen details to help you make informed choices when enjoying our range. Allergens Gluten & Wheat

Our products that contain only nuts, plain chocolate, or glucose syrup (in jelly slabs) are gluten-free, and we work diligently to ensure that the risk of contamination is minimized throughout the manufacturing process. We maintain standards approved by Coeliac Australia and Food Standards Australia New Zealand to ensure our chocolate and confectionery products can be enjoyed by people on gluten-free diets, and with coeliac disease and gluten intolerance.

  • Glucose Syrup: Our glucose is derived from corn starch and is used exclusively in our jelly slabs. The glucose syrup used in our products contains less than 10 parts per million (ppm) of gluten, a concentration that is approved by Coeliac Australia. Given that the glucose is used in very small quantities, gluten content in our products is considered to be below detectable levels, typically less than 0.5 ppm. Based on these measurements, we do not include gluten in our allergen labeling for jelly slabs.

  • Other Products: Our slabs and panned products (except for liquorice bullets) are gluten-free. We prepare these products in an uncontaminated environment, as they are produced on food-grade plastic sheeting that is changed every batch. Additionally, all production areas are thoroughly cleaned, especially after liquorice production, ensuring the risk of cross-contamination is minimized.

Cross-Contamination Prevention

  • While our facilities handle multiple ingredients, including gluten-containing materials, we follow strict procedures to prevent cross-contamination. After producing liquorice, equipment is thoroughly cleaned to bare metal before proceeding with other products. Independent testing conducted after liquorice production has confirmed that gluten levels in these areas are below the Limit of Detection (LOD) established by FSANZ, ensuring that any gluten present is below detectable levels.

Allergens Lactose & Dairy

For those with dairy allergies and/or lactose intolerances, the majority of our dark chocolate slabs and our entire vegan milk chocolate range is dairy free. 

  • Bulk Products: Most of our dark ‘bulk products’ range (panned fruit, nuts, confectionery, etc) are not considered to be lactose free as they have milk solids present from ghee.
  • Slabs: The inclusions for our dark macadamia brittle slabs and dark salted caramel slabs are produced using butter, so are not dairy free.

Cross-Contamination

  • Because many of our products contain dairy and lactose, we cannot guarantee there won’t be cross contamination traces. All efforts are made to reduce cross contamination, but all products are made in the same factory, with the same equipment.

Dietary Choices Vegan & Vegetarian

We have a small 39% vegan milk chocolate range in both slabs and packets. The majority of our dark chocolate slabs do not actively contain any animal products. 

  • Bulk Products: Most of our dark ‘bulk products’ range (panned fruit, nuts, confectionery, etc) are not considered to be vegan friendly as they have milk solids present from ghee, and shellac (an animal by-product). 
  • Slabs: The inclusions for our dark macadamia brittle slabs and dark salted caramel slabs are produced using butter, so are not dairy free. Our peppermint slab includes gelatine (an animal by-product).
  • Confectionery: Our confectionery range, including rocky road, coconut marshmallow and honeycomb, all include gelatine (an animal by-product).

Allergens Peanuts & Tree Nuts

We have a small range of products which include peanuts or tree nuts, so they are present in our facility. These include:

  • Peanuts 
  • Almonds 
  • Macadamias 
  • Pistachios 
  • Hazelnuts 
  • Pecans  

These products have the nut listed explicitly in their product name, except for our Noosa Crunch product which includes macadamias. All products have the nuts listed in their ingredients.

Allergens Soy

All of our products include a small amount of soy, as it is a component of our chocolate emulsifier. Our coconut marshmallow does not contain soy as an ingredient, but is made in the same factory as our other products, so we cannot guarantee cross contamination will not occur.

FAQs

Do you have coeliac friendly gluten-free products?

Yes, the vast majority of our products are gluten-free. We only add gluten to the liquorice bullets products. All products are made in the same factory and on the same equipment, so we can’t guarantee that there won’t be traces in other products.

Do you have any products that contain gelatine?

Yes. Our rocky road, coconut marshmallow, peppermint slab and honeycomb all contain gelatine.

 

Are your jelly slabs made with gelatine?

No, our jelly slabs are made with pectin. This is a vegetarian friendly alternative to gelatine.

Why can’t you use pectin in the Rocky Road?

It’s complicated! We use pectin in the jelly, and gelatine in the marshmallow. We find gelatine creates the perfect marshmallow – pillowy with the right texture, mouthfeel and bite. Pectin is more suited for gummy, chewy confectionery like our jelly.

Does your Rocky Road contain nuts?

No. Our rocky road is unique in that it is made without nuts! It includes jelly, marshmallow, coconut and chocolate. We cannot guarantee there won’t be traces of nuts, despite best efforts, as it’s made in the Venture Drive factory with our nut products.

Is there a risk of cross-contamination?

Yes. Our products are made in the same factory on shared equipment, we cannot guarantee the absence of dairy, gluten, or nut traces, despite stringent cleaning measures. We are transparent with this information so you can make an informed decision when choosing to purchase our products.

Are all your dark chocolate slabs vegan-friendly?

While most of our dark chocolate slabs do not actively contain animal products, some inclusions, such as macadamia brittle and salted caramel slabs, are made with butter. Our peppermint slab and certain confectionery products contain gelatine, which is an animal by-product.

What about other common food allergens?

Our products are free of egg, lupin, sesame, and fish & seafood allergens. Our rocky road, coconut marshmallow, peppermint slab and honeycomb all contain gelatine, which is a mammalian meat by-product.
